Harmful emissions are causing unprecedented and rapid changes on our planet. More than 70% of the emissions that drive global warming come from our energy system. Every year the global energy system produces almost 40 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, pushing our planet towards irreversible climate tipping points. As developing economies grow and their energy needs increase, emissions will only rise unless we decisively change how we power our world.
CATF works to rapidly reduce greenhouse gas emissions while advancing long-term climate solutions, to ensure an energy-rich planet with affordable, net-zero emissions. The organisation's aim is a world where our population can meet its energy needs without harming the environment. To achieve this vision, CATF:
The independent climate charity evaluator Giving Green has recommended CATF since 2020 and kept it on its Top Climate Nonprofits list for 2025 and 2026. According to Giving Green, CATF's strengths are its pragmatic, results-driven approach, its policy expertise and its proven track record, including work towards the Global Methane Pledge and the US Inflation Reduction Act. Giving Green highlights in particular CATF's work on electricity grids, superhot rock geothermal energy, and cutting emissions from aviation and shipping.
Founders Pledge also carried out an in-depth analysis of CATF in 2020, stressing that CATF is one of the most cost-effective organisations working on climate change, and has funded it several times since, most recently in 2025.
The 2020 Founders Pledge report found that:
We simplify tax-deductible giving from Estonia to the world's most effective charities. On our platform you can donate to several organisations at once and choose how your donation is split between them. Donations made through Anneta Targalt are automatically included in your Estonian tax return. Donating through Anneta Targalt has no transaction fees, and because we pass the donations collected so far on to the charities once a quarter, the transfer fees stay minimal thanks to the larger amounts.
